Michael Owen was on target as Real Madrid kept their Primera Liga title hopes alive by beating Barcelona 4-2 in the Bernabeu on Sunday night.

Los Galacticos crushed their bitter rivals in thrilling fashion to cut the gap on the men from Catalonia to six points.

Owen's goal, made by a superb David Beckham pass, put Real 4-1 ahead on 65 minutes and virtually wrapped up the points.

Real went ahead just seven minutes in when Zinedine Zidane slid in bravely at the far post to head in a Ronaldo cross.

Ronaldo himself made it 2-0 on 20 minutes, before Samuel Eto'o pulled one back nine minutes later.
